Solomon Islands national carrier, Solomon Airlines, is organizing a special flight to Fiji via Vanuatu to assist stranded passengers following Cyclone Evan.

Solomon Airlines General Manager for Operations and Commercial Service, Gus Kraus, says the airline is stepping in to help Air Pacific deal with two cancelled flights to Honiara, as a result of the cyclone.

Kraus says both Air Pacific and Air Vanuatu have agreed to have Solomon Airlines to take on the extra flights to assist stranded passengers.

The Solomon Airlines' flight will from Honiara today and will take passengers wanting to travel to Vanuatu and Fiji. The flight will return to Honiara on tommorrow via Vanuatu.

Solomon Airlines' says passengers wanting to travel on the special flight can get assistance from airlines' sales office in Point Cruz and Panatina Plaza.

Solomon Airlines normally flies to Fiji via Vanuatu on Saturday and returns to Honiara on a Sunday.
