Technical issues have delayed the much awaited arrival of a 320 Airbus aircraft which Solomon Airlines has leased from Strategic Airlines in Australia to operate the Honiara Brisbane route.

The aircraft was to have arrived in the country on the weekend, but registration of the aircraft and maintenance approvals by the French Civil Aviation department have caused the delay.

Solomon Airlines says they were advised about the delay late on Friday and that it was partly to do with the lack of resources available within the Civil Aviation department in France.

The airline however says its flights to and from Brisbane will operate as normal and according to its published schedule.

Solomon Airlines says French authorities will release the aircraft to fly to Brisbane sometimes this week and will be ready for Solomon Airlines services by Monday August 10.
