Solomon Islands' trade expert Robert Sisilo has landed a lucrative job in Nauru, taking on the role of Nauru's new foreign affairs secretary from next month.

He replaces Iosefo Maiava, who moves to Fiji in December to become the new head of the Pacific office for the United Nations Asia-Pacific Economic and Social Commission.

The foreign affairs secretary position in Nauru is funded under the Pacific Regional Assistance on Nauru financed by AusAID.

Mr. Sisilo was the Pacific Islands Forum permanent representative at the World Trade Organization in Geneva.

He was also Solomon Islands' ambassador in Brussels, and has been chief adviser to his government's negotiations for an economic agreement with the European Union.
