Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) at the National Traffic Department in Honiara will mount an operation starts on 18 January to 31 January 2021.

Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says, “The operation will be focused mainly on:

• Traffic management and control relating to offending vehicle drivers blocking lanes, driving on footpaths and parking on footpaths;

• Unlicensed drivers and vehicles and person permitting unlicensed drivers and vehicles;

• Normal vehicle checks;

• Directed Police Patrols - High Visibility Traffic Patrols at Central Market by keeping all lanes free to minimise traffic congestion;

• Targeted Traffic Stop and hot spots with planned checkpoints within the city limits.”

Commissioner Mangau says, “Road users who violate the traffic laws during the operation will be charged and prosecuted.”

Commissioner Mangau adds. “I want to remind the public especially the road users to continue to abide by our traffic laws. They are there to safeguard us. Please respect and assist our officers while they on the road to assist to minimise the continue traffic congestion in our City.”
