Police say they have arrested and charged two persons yesterday in relation to prostitution carried out in the country.

Police Detective Inspector and Acting Director of National Criminal Investigations Department, Florence Taro, confirmed this in a conference yesterday.

The arrests were made following past reports of some Asians carrying out prostitution in the Kukum area in Central Honiara and some other places around Honiara.

Ms Taro said the two men were arrested Wednesday in relation to illegal prostitution in the country following a joint operation on the matter being carried out by the Immigration Office and the Police for the past two weeks.

She said after receiving information Police invited the two men to come forward and later arrest them.

Ms Taro said they appeared in the Magistrates Court this morning and were released under strict bail conditions.
