Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo observed a minute's silence n respect of Adam Dunning, an Australian police officer, who was killed whilst on duty with the Regional Assistance to Solomon Islands in 2004.
Mr. Lilo paid the tribute to Dunning whilst visiting the Australian Federal Police International Deployment Group Facility yesterday.The Prime Minister said that late Dunning was "a brave officer who offered his services to help the people of Solomon Islands in its time of need."
At the visit to the International Deployment Group Facility, Mr. Lilo and his delegation were briefed by senior members of the Australian Federal Police about the work they were doing internationally in particular with RAMSI.
Mr. Lilo said one of the important roles of the partnership was training of Solomon Islands police officers alongside Australian Federal Police officers.
Prime Minister Lilo is currently holding a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, the Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard.
