The Chief of Police has revealed that crime rate in Honiara has dropped in comparison to 2008.

In a press conference, the Acting Police Commissioner, Peter Marshall, said the Operation 'Time's Up" has done a good job in patrolling the town during the late hours and on weekends.

The operation consists of general policing members who have discovered there's less crime in town.

It has been noted that there's also a drop in consumption of alcohol in public and disorder has cut down as well.

He said high police presence on beat patrol and vehicle patrol has contributed to the drop in crime rate.

"Honiara is still a peaceful place but we are going to put extra patrol in the capital."

Mr. Marshall said the rate should be kept that way and urged the public to continue with the good behaviour.
