The Lata Police had entered its first week of court circuit hearings at the Lata Magistrate Court house.

Since the 21st February 2009, four suspects had been convicted on various criminal offences.

The Presiding Magistrate ruled on in favour of the Police Prosecution and convicted four men in relation to charges of arson, illegal brewing of Kwaso and common assault.

A man in his 30's who took the first trial convicted to six months imprisonment for burning down a local kitchen at Lata later in 2004.

Another man aged 25 was also convicted on two common assault charges, after attacking his sister and was convicted for one year imprisonment.

In another court hearing, three men aged in their 25 who are from Taipe village were convicted for illegally brewing and manufacturing Kwaso on the Island late last year 2008. All three men have each received six months imprisonment for their charges.

Lata Police Commander,Inspector Lazarus Taki commended the good work done by the Police at Lata and Police Prosecution team who have been there in support of the court circuit cases and brought out some good results over cases that being pending for quite a number of hearings.
