To improve healthcare service delivery in rural areas, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services has handed over a new Toyota Land Cruiser Double Cabin to Kiluúfi Hospital in Malaita Province.

The handover was done by Health Minister Dr Paul Bosawai together with Permanent Secretary Mrs. Pauline McNeil and Deputy Secretary Corporate Services Mr. Layten Lacob handed over a Toyota Land Cruiser Double Cabin for Kiluúfi Hospital to the Malaita Province Health Director Dr David Danitofea.

In handing over the vehicle, Health Minister Dr Bosawai said this is part of the National Government and the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to the Improvement of Rural Health Care Services in the Provinces.

“This is part of the ministry’s continuous effort and commitment to improve rural health care services around the country. Malaita Province is a densely populated area, and this vehicle will add to, and improve the logistical support to enable health services delivery in Malaita Province, especially the Kiluúfi Hospital”, said Minister Bosawai.

Receiving the vehicle, Malaita Province Health Director Dr David Danitofea thanked the Minister and the Ministry for seeing fit and chose to donate the vehicle to Kiluúfi Hospital.

“Given the high population in Malaita, this vehicle will ease some of the logistic burdens, such as transporting of medical suppliers and other important hospital errands the hospital encounters”, said Dr Danitofea.

Meanwhile, the 2019 Census report shows Malaita Province recorded the highest population count amongst other provinces.
