The Guadalcanal Province Vector Borne Disease Control Program recently donated eight bales of mosquito bed nets to the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) at the Guadalcanal Provincial Warehouse in Honiara.

These nets are intended for distribution to inmates to help control and eliminate malaria at the Rove Central Correctional Centre.

The CSSI Commissioner's office expressed gratitude to the Guadalcanal Province Vector Borne Disease Control Program for their generous donation and for coordinating the distribution of the mosquito bed nets.

Francis Panate, Supervisor of the Guadalcanal Province Vector Borne Disease Control Program, stated that the bed nets are meant to protect inmates from contracting malaria and to help stop its transmission within the jail.

CSSI Commissioner Mactus Forau thanked the Guadalcanal Province Vector Borne Disease Control Program for their support in controlling malaria within the correctional facilities. He also extended his thanks to the Australian Government for their ongoing support in helping to control and progressively eliminate malaria across the Solomon Islands.
