The European Union has injected funds into more than 171 micro-projects under the Rural Development Program.
More than 2000 applicants have been received for project grants, which have been evaluated.The projects were funded in the nine provinces in the country, covering a wide range of activities including health, education, women and money generating projects.
Funds of 22 million dollars have been spent on the projects up to Phase Two.
The launch yesterday at Honiara Hotel was informed that what happens after Phase Two "will be up to the government".
Minister for Planning and Aid Coordination, Steve Abana said the projects for the provinces are being managed through "transparent and accountable means".
"This program is in the frontline of the current government's policy of advancing rural development," the Hon Abana said.
