Those seeking information about disasters in Solomon Islands and what to do before, during and after their impacts will have another source to use this year.

The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has collaborated with the Yellow Pages of Papua New Guinea who are producing the Solomon Islands telephone directory to include such information in this year's directory due to be out in May.

NDMO Director, Loti Yates says the reason for agreeing to use the new directory is that it will get to many people.

"We have been producing posters and calendars to supplement our yearly three-month awareness campaigns through the media but these are somewhat limited. This is why we are very excited about this additional avenue. I mean, the problem with the calendars and the posters is that we only distributed to schools, government offices and diplomatic missions and Provincial head offices. This is why I said that using the new directory will be enlarging our audience," said Mr Yates.

He also adds that the information will be in a big publication that is durable and he applauds the move by Yellow Pages Company in approaching his office about this opportunity.
