A team of New Zealanders are currently in the Solomon Islands to provide humanitarian support in various communities of the country.

Three ships and more than 700 defence personnel have arrived in the Solomon Islands to deliver humanitarian assistance and develop the nation's disaster preparedness.

New Zealand is leading the planning and conduct of the Pacific Partnership 2013 activities in the nation, and has more than 150 Defence Force personnel on the ground as well as its navy ship, the HMNZS Canterbury.

The NZDF's deputy mission commander, Captain Tony Millar says it's an exciting year for the Defence Force in Pacific Partnership, leading two phases, firstly in Kiribati and now the Solomon Islands.
