The Solomon Islands Football Federation, SIFF, has teamed up with national carrier, Solomon Airlines, in an ambitious arrangement that aims to enter national football talents in Australia's state of Queensland.
The partnership agreement guarantees SIFF access to a corporate box owned by the Solomon Airlines in Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. The stadium is home to the Brisbane Roars, a Queensland A league soccer team.
SIFF President Martin Alufurai says the partnership agreement will establish a football network that will enable Solomon Islands football players to get into the Australian soccer arena.
Mr Alufurai says the corporate box at the Queensland Suncorp Stadium will enable more frequent contact with club officials and state-teams of Queensland soccer.
He says SIFF has been trying to break into the Australian soccer market for many years and the corporate box will provide SIFF an opening to target Australia state soccer leagues.
The partnership agreement was signed last Friday.
