A forum on a 'good practice' governance cycle for the Solomon Islands nine state-owned enterprises opened in Honiara yesterday.

The forum was aimed at looking into possible activities, including strengthening the governance of SOE Boards, sharing lessons and internal corporate governance.

The activities are expected to address the newly established SOE Forum's Work Program for next year.

In his address to officially open the SOE Forum this morning, Finance Minister, Hon. Gordon Darcy Lilo described the state of SOE's as 'a difficult matter' of which the Forum would find solutions to problems it faces.

The Finance Minister also commended the Forum's focus on 'better practices' saying each state-owned enterprise has something to contribute to the Forum and something to take away to use.

State-owned enterprises in Solomon Islands include are: Solomon Island Water Authority, Solomon Island Ports Authority, Solomon Island Electricity Authority, Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, Solomon Islands Postal Corporation, Investment Corporation of Solomon Islands, Solomon Airlines and the recently sold Solomon Island Printers Limited.
