The Western Province Rugby Union Association today confirmed their participation in the up-coming Solbrew-Marist Easter 7s tournament on the 23rd of April 2011.

WPRUA President John Nige confirmed to the 7s organising committee that their team will be travelling to Honiara next week to take part in the one day event. This the first time for a team from the Western Province to take part in the Marist 7s Tournament.

Marist Rugby very much welcomed the confirmation from the Western province, "it's a great boost for our Club and Solbrew to get more provincial teams this year, it means that the tournament is not just benefiting the Honiara clubs," a spokesperson said.

The previous 7s tournament organised by Marist Rugby with Solbrew's support had representation only from Malaita province with three teams from Auki. They are expected to take part again.

Meanwhile the 7s organising committee is calling on teams to quickly organise their registration to secure a place in the tournament.

"Teams at the very least should indicate their interest to our committee and just ensure that their registration fee of $2000 is paid in by close of business Tuesday next week," a spokesperson said, "if they have questions they should come to us quickly for clarification so that they don't miss out."
