Two teenagers will stand trial on charges relating to last weekend's soccer riot in Honiara.

Police Commissioner Peter Marshall told a news conference a further seventeen people arrested soon after the riot on Saturday are still being questioned for their involvement.

Mr Marshall joined the rest of the community in condemning last weekend's criminal acts as highly regrettable but called on everyone including local football governing body SIFF to be prepared for the worse.

When questioned by the media, the Police boss denied there was a security vacuum over the change of fixtures.

He assured all football-loving fans in Honiara that security at all remaining football matches at Lawson Tama will be tight with a high visible presence of local Police personnel, the PPF and a contingent of RAMSI soldiers.
