Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Sogavare is keen to establish a stronger relationship with the Republic of Georgia.

This was revealed through a statement issued by the Government while visited by Georgian Ambassador to Solomon Islands His Excellency Vladimir Konstantinidi this week.

The Canberra-based envoy is in the country to explore further areas for technical cooperation and get feedback on a first batch of computers donated by his government for rural schools in Solomon Islands.

Prime Minister Sogavare said Solomon Islands has benefited tremendously from its four-year-old relationship with Georgia and this bond should continue to be strengthened through enriched technical cooperation.

He said the recently passed budget of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government is now in its delivery phase to make a positive difference in the lives of Solomon Islanders.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Konstantinidi thanked the Prime Minister for acknowledging Georgia’s diplomatic relations with Solomon Islands and current technical cooperation assistance which is focused on education.

Mr Konstantinidi assured the Prime Minister that his country will look into other areas for technical cooperation, adding Georgia’s relationship with Solomon Islands is a good start to a greater Pacific network.

He said Georgia has enjoyed Solomon Islands’ support at the United Nations in 2014 and looking forward to the same gesture this year.
