Leader of the Official Opposition Hon Manasseh Sogavare has wished Prime Minister Hon Matthew Wale a speedy recovery after the prime minister left for medical treatment in Australia.

Sogavare said he extended his best wishes on behalf of the Parliamentary Opposition, and that his thoughts were with the prime minister and his family.

"On behalf of the Parliamentary Opposition, I wish the Prime Minister a speedy recovery and a successful outcome from his medical assessment and treatment," Sogavare said.

He said the Opposition prayed that Wale received the care and rest he needed and returned home in good health.

Sogavare also thanked the doctors and staff at the National Referral Hospital who attended to the prime minister and arranged his referral for further treatment overseas.

Good health was something all Solomon Islanders valued, he said, and the prime minister's referral was a reminder of the importance of timely medical attention and of the shared responsibility to strengthen health care for all Solomon Islanders.

The Opposition leader said the same wishes went to every patient receiving care at home or overseas, and to the families supporting them.
