The Solomon Islands Institute of Sport (SINIS) has opened its doors today to the public with an Open Day.

SINIS is inviting the public to join the event and learn more about the growing sports industry.

SINIS says the Open Day will give them the opportunity to showcase their facilities, programs, and services to the community, and will also feature partners, including sports federations.

SINIS provides elite training to athletes through pathway programs, which means that they are athletes that have been identified by sports federations with the potential to represent the country for the next four to eight years.

For example, National Sports Federations organize their respective National Championships, including the Solomon Games, which provides the linkage to the provinces for athletes’ recruitment.

Through these competitions, national sports federations will do their respective athlete selections and these selected athletes will then join the High-Performance program for further elite training.
