It is the second time in as many weeks that referees have failed to turn up to officiate at the soccer league games.

Recently the game between Sunbeam and Hana had to be called off because the referees and the officials failed to turn up.The two teams turned up in their gears to play at the AE Oval but the game had to be postponed for a later date.

Officials at the Honiara Football Association (HFA) stated that the referees had no excuse as they were notified of their appointments ahead of the match. HFA is becoming frustrated over what they term as a lack of professionalism shown by the match officials.

HFA administrator, Mr Barnabas Loloito, is furious and said that they are wasting their time buying a paint to draw the line in preparation for the game.

"When referees fail to turn up there is no excuse. They are wasting everyone's time and money...players and spectators have been treated unfairly," said Mr Loloito.

Loloito said the referees are demanding too much. "With the first postponement they were demanding their payment, and we gave them their payment but today there is no excuse."

Mr. Loloito said the referees' action will only drag the league much longer then it should. He said the games must all finish before 10th of April and not later than that.
