The Pacific Islands Forum team is currently in the country to review the progress of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands.

The Forum team consists of the acting Secretary to the Forum Peter Forau, former Foreign Affairs Minister of Fiji Kaliopate Tavola and New Zealand's Neil Waters.
During last nights function to invite the team, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare stressed the need to have a forward looking approach to the review.

"The events of 2000, the arrival of RAMSI, and the subsequent burning of Chinatown are of the past" Mr Sogavare said. "As partners the Government, RAMSI, and other important stakeholders must move forward together"

The Prime Minister also took time to thank the Special Coordinator, Tim George for being very diplomatic in his approach to concerns raised by the government in relation to RAMSI's operations.

"We are an important stakeholder" Mr Sogavare said. "It's very important that our concerns are taken on board"

The review team will leave the country next Tuesday.
