Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Danny Philip has acknowledged the tremendous support to the Solomon Islands by the outgoing Republic of China's Ambassador to Solomon Islands, George Chan.

Speaking at a farewell dinner hosted by Prime Minister last week, Hon. Philip said that George Chan and Loretta Chan have made a tremendous contribution through the relations and development cooperation between the Republic of Chan and Solomon Islands during their time as Ambassador to the Solomon Islands.

Prime Minister said Mr Chan's term in Solomon Islands has witnessed the deepening of bilateral relation between our two countries, whilst much of this friendship has been converted into tangible assistance to Solomon Islands.

Mr Philip said the four years that Mr Chan has spent in Solomon Islands have seen a flurry of activities between the two countries.

He said Mr Chan's has also contributed to his Government's commitment and efforts to assist Solomon Islands in nation building, health, infrastructure development, agriculture, fisheries, education, security, rural development, human resources development as well as rural electrification.

Mr Philip also thanked Mr Chan's efforts in securing the Taiwan funding for the construction of the Parliament Office Complex project.

Prime Minister Philip said the Government of Solomon Islands would render to the next successor the same support and cooperation that the country has given Mr Chan and would continue to support Taiwan's efforts to gain international recognition in the international communities.
