Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) commends the community for the good behaviour shown during the Motion of no Confidence against the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare yesterday, (6 December 2021) with no reported disturbances in Honiara.
“I would like to thank members of the public for their positive behaviour during the Motion of No Confidence,” Commissioner of RSIPF Mr. Mostyn Mangau said.
“I would also like to commend the hard working officers of the RSIPF who were involved in maintaining law and order during this time. The RSIPF also received tremendous support from officers serving under Solomons’ International Assisting Force (SIAF).
“I once again wish to appeal to all members of the public to respect each other and behave in a way that does not provoke and lead to any further violence. We must continue to work together,” Commissioner Mangau said.
“Business should be back to normal and police supported by members of the SIAF will continue with function by carrying out normal duties. Investigations into the protest, riot, burning and looting of shops during the recent unrest will continue.
“I call on anyone who may have been involved in the looting to hand over the stolen items to nearest police station and Solomon Islands Chinese Association (SICA). You will not be able to hide. We have received information on those who were involved in the looting and it is only a matter of time before we are at your door.”
