The Australian Government has agreed and given permission to the Honiara City Council and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force to remove any illegal structures attached to the existing buildings in or around the perimeter of their property in White River.

In a letter to the Honiara City Lord Mayor dated 23rd January 2013, Australian High Commission confirms the commission has not given permission for any group or individual to inhabit or use any part of the White River property.

It says the permission for HTC and the RSIPF to enter and remove any illegal structures within the vicinity is due to a recent confrontation over the use of the White River property.

It is understood that the hill top behind the White River 02 bus stop belongs to the Commonwealth of Australia and that temporary houses were built along the hill side.

The letter was attached with the Honiara Town Council's notice for the closure of White River market.
