This Saturday, people of Malaita will be able to hear the update of the economic stimulus package being pursued by their provincial government.

Honorary Consul of the State of Israel in Solomon Islands, Leliana Firisua, says he will inform the Malaita provincial government and people of Malaita on the progress of the package during the 62nd Israel Independence Anniversary celebrations in Auki this weekend.

"It's an opportunity for me to tell the people of Malaita, that the request of the government has been sought and was endorsed by the Sikua government, as I said in February this year. The Israeli government has started to act on it."

Mr Firisua says the first was when the Malaita Deputy Provincial Secretary went to Israel early this year to finalise some training issues.

Mr Firisua says next month a group of planners from Malaita Province will go to Israel to learn about development and how Israel can help the province put together its economic stimulus package.

He says another group will go to Israel in August for similar training to build the province's manpower capacity in order to help work on the economic package for Malaita.
