Prime Minister, Hon. Gordon Darcy Lilo has welcomed the world renowned English Reggae Star and former UB40 front man, Ali Campbell to the shores of Solomon Islands.

Ali Campbell made a brief courtesy call to Prime Minister Lilo this morning during which he briefly shared his view on the value of Reggae Music and its unifying impact on people across the world.

“That is what reggae music is all about. It’s all about unity, peace and love and that is why I love promoting it around the world,” Ali told Prime Minister Lilo.

Ali on arrival on Monday said he was very impressed with the warm traditional welcome at the Honiara International Airport, particularly, the sound of Solomon’s popular pan pipe music.

“We really enjoyed the warm welcome at the airport which none of us have expected. The sound of the traditional Solomon music just blows us away,” Mr Campbell said.

Prime Minister Lilo acknowledged Mr Campbell for his international contribution towards promoting the virtues of unity, love and peace through his music career over the years.

“This country has many followers in your music and we really value that contribution,” Prime Minister Lilo said.

Prime Minister Lilo also gave Mr Campbell an opportunity to speak briefly to members of the Government Caucus who expressed gratitude for the English Reggae Star’s decision to visit Solomon Islands this year.

Ali Campbell will stage a one day public show at the Lawson Tama stadium tonight
