Member of Parliament for Malaita Outer Islands and Opposition MP, Hon. Martin Kealoe has switched allegiance to the ruling Government.

A Government statement today said Hon Kealoe has resigned from the Solomon Islands Democratic Party (SIDP) and has joined the Government’s Our Party.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has welcomed Kealoe’s decision to join the Government.

The same sentiments were also shared by the Chairman of Caucus Hon Namson Tran when welcoming Hon Kealoe at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet today.

The MP for MOI was first elected to the National Parliament of Solomon Islands for Malaita Outer Islands Constituency on 4 August 2010, this would be his third term in office.

Kealoe was a businessman prior to entering politics.

The resignation of the MP for MOI to the ruling Government has further boosted the Governments numerical strength.
