Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP recently met with His Excellency Mohamed Saif Al Suwadi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) recently in Abu Dhabi.

The bilateral was to explore avenues for cooperation between the Solomon Islands and the United Arab Emirates.

ADFD, a prominent financial institution in the UAE, provides funding for infrastructure projects in developing nations, making it a key partner for the Solomon Islands' development goals.

Held at ADFD’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, the discussions focused on identifying opportunities for transformative infrastructure and climate-proofing projects that would benefit both nations.

With the Solomon Islands facing some of the highest energy rates in the Pacific and globally, Prime Minister Manele highlighted the urgent need for investment in renewable energy.

This investment would help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower energy costs, aligning with the Government for National Unity and Transformation's (GNUT) commitment to sustainable development.

By strengthening ties with ADFD, the Solomon Islands aims to secure support for critical infrastructure initiatives that will drive economic growth and environmental sustainability.
