The Governor General Sir Frank Kabui and Lady Kabui have arrived in England, on the invitation of the Commonwealth's Royal Family, to attend the wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton this weekend.

The Governor General's deputy special secretary, Rawcliffe Ziza confirms that His Excellency Kabui left the country last Sunday.

He said the wedding will take place on the 29th of this month.

Mr Ziza said the Governor General has been accompanied by his ADC and the Chief of Protocol from the Foreign Affairs department.

He said the trip is funded by the government of Solomon Islands.

Mr Ziza said as the queen's representative in the country, it is customary that the Governor General attends the Royal wedding.

The Governor General and his delegation returns on the 4th of May.
