Prime Minister Derek Sikua says his government has approved SBD$11 million dollars to support those affected by the recent bad weather throughout the country.

Dr Sikua made the announcement when he visited the National Disaster Management Office, NDMO, as part of his visit of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

NDMO reports that Dr Sikua also commended the work of its staff saying they have done a great job despite being under great pressure from all corners after the disaster impacts recently.

He said as the leader of the government he thanked them for their dedication and hard work.

Dr Sikua urged that the NDMO continue to collect the results of assessments from all affected areas and submit plans for possible reconstruction.

Meanwhile, the Director of NDMO, said disaster management work is a thankless job and often his staff get harassed but the Prime Minister's words were very encouraging and motivating.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Fred Fakarii also thanked the Prime Minister for the visit.

Mr Fakarii assured the Prime Minister that despite the disruptions disaster caused the National Disaster Management and his Ministry will work to fulfill the plans of the C-NURA government.

The Prime Minister's visit to the Ministry yesterday is part of his ongoing visits to government Ministries in the country.
