There are currently some doubts as to whether the Solomon Islands National Soccer League season will still kick off this year.

Initially it was supposed to have kicked off in May, but delays confirming club participation and sponsorship have postponed the start to next month or even October.

The S-League is struggling financially, but the Solomon Islands Football Federation says the new league, which was established only in 2011, is helping to improve the national side.

Joseph Boso, the Federation's media officer, says he is confident teams will take to the pitch this year still.
