The Solomon Islands Family Support Centre's GBV Provincial Committees (PC) from seven Provinces concluded their two weeks of Conference in Honiara.

Eight Provincial Committee member representatives from Marau in Guadalcanal, Tulagi in the Central Islands, Kirakira in Makira, Noro in Western Province, Buala and Kolotubi in Isabel, Lata and Neo in Temotu Province attended the FSC Gender Based Violence (GBV) Conference. 

The conference has also attended by the newly recruited staff in Family Support Centre Gizo Branch and Honiara head office.

A total of 28 participants attended and were awarded with certificate at the end of the conference.

Speaking at the closing during the certificate presentation, a team leader of Buala Committee Mrs. Janet Hivu said, “from the past trainings conducted by FSC that I’ve attended, this conference is very informative and have increase my current knowledge and understanding with the work we have been doing with FSC in the provinces and with the newly launched GBV Provincial Operational Manual has added value to our work at the provincial level. Therefore, I would like to thank the FSC heads of department and Honiara staff for organizing the conference, also extending my thank you to the donor partners for supporting the conference and to the FSC board working behind the scenes guiding the organisation in decision making.”

The conference covered the newly strategic plan and GBV PC Operational Manual, Child Protection and Fraud Policies, safeguarding policies such as Anti-Sexual Harassment, and Prevention on Sexual Exploitation and Harassment (PSEAH).

The conference objective was also aimed to train the FSC GBV PC’s on Gender Equality, Gender Based Violence issues including disability focus, Human Rights, Basic knowledge on laws in Solomon Islands that protect victims and survivors of family violence, skills on GBV Counselling and Psychological First Aid (PFA), and Case Management services.

FSC Centre Manager, Mrs. Lorio Sisiolo, on behalf of the Board of Management, our valued donors and staff members have echoed her thank you and acknowledgement to the hard working FSC GBV Provincial Committee members and the Gizo branch staff members for their continues commitment and work they have been doing at the provincial level.
