The owner of the Heritage Park Hotel currently under construction in the centre of Honiara, Mr. Kostas Constantinou, said that his new hotel is going to be one of the best hotels, not only in Honiara but also in the Pacific.

Mr. Constantinou said this when the Solomon Islands Prime Minister Dr. Derek Sikua made a short visit to the new Heritage Park Hotel construction site at the former Government House's location in the centre of Honiara.

The Prime Minister's party was given a tour of the construction site by Mr. Constantinou and his Project Manager, Mr. William Bill Mathew.

The construction of the hotel began in August 2007 and according to Mr. Mathew, is expected to be completed by April 2009.

Mr. Constantinou an Australian citizen, who also owns a Five Star Hotel and other accommodation facilities in Papua New Guinea, arrived in the country on Friday and returned to PNG after the official visit last Saturday.

During the short visit Dr. Derek Sikua said that he was pleased with the development that was currently underway on the site.

He said that the development of the new Heritage Park Hotel here "connects well with the government policy to provide an environment conducive in efforts to increase the number of investors investing in the Solomon Islands."

"The government sees the development currently underway as equally important to the development of this nation as a whole," said the Dr. Sikua.

Prime Minister Sikua also revealed during the visit that there are nine more investors expected to bring in new developments into the country.

The Prime Minister acknowledged Mr. Constantinou's contribution and commitment to Solomon Islands as the country's trade commissioner to Papua New Guinea for not only showing Solomon Islands to investors, but actually investing in the country as well.

"This is very important as the private sector is the driving force behind our country's economy and therefore I am happy to see more developments coming up," said Dr. Sikua.

In response, Mr. Constantinou assured the Prime Minister that his new hotel aims to provide a maximum standard of accommodation facilities for visitors coming into the Solomon Islands.
