522 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, which includes updated figures from the Central province and in Honiara.

The Minister of Health and Medical Services Dr. Culwick Togamana gave the update this evening during his daily COVID-19 situation report on the national broadcaster, SIBC.

He says 199 are new cases recorded over a 24-hour reporting period, while 138 cases are updated figures from Central province over the past four days (13th Feb-16th Feb 2022). 185 cases are from Honiara, collected using the rapid antigen test when it was first introduced for general community testing on the 1st of February 2022.

Of the 199 new cases recorded today, 81 are in Honiara, 27 in Malaita, 21 in Guadalcanal, 12 in West, 19 in Choiseul, 19 in Central, and 11 from Isabel.
The Health Minister says unfortunately for Makira, 9 new positive COVID-19 cases were also recorded, all of which are in Kira Kira. He says contact tracing is now underway.

Temotu and Rennell Bellona have tested people with flu-like symptoms but have all returned negative, both remain free from COVID-19.

The total cumulative cases of positive COVID-19 in the country now stand at 5,565.
