The Central Islands Provincial Government has expressed a strong interest in attracting genuine business investments and contributing to national development initiatives.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, Central Islands Provincial Premier Hon. Michael Salini affirmed the province’s readiness to support the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) and its vision, confident that this will draw in committed investors.
Premier Salini expressed confidence in the national government’s transformation policy, stating that Central Province is prepared to actively engage in development opportunities. He highlighted key sectors for investment, including tourism, agriculture, and fisheries, pledging the province's support for the Prime Minister’s leadership and GNUT’s transformative priorities.
Prime Minister Manele thanked Premier Salini for his commitment to the transformation efforts led by GNUT, noting that the government is increasing the Tourism Ministry’s budget for the coming year. He emphasized GNUT's focused approach on advancing fisheries and agriculture as essential pillars of national growth.
Their discussions also covered national unity, economic priorities, provincial infrastructure needs, and preparations for the Savo Volcano. Addressing Central Province's request for an additional constituency, the Prime Minister assured that it would be directed through the appropriate commission.
They also explored investment and business partnerships, including the potential benefits of a forthcoming sister relationship between Central Islands Province and a Chinese province.
