The Solomon Islands Basketball Team is looking to its overseas based players for the upcoming South Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa.

Amongst the overseas based players is Waige Turueke, a six foot five baller based in the United States. "Waige has been exposed to the highest standards of basketball" stated basketball development officer, Golden Kiloko. "Being exposed to the US college league would add a whole new dimension to the team"

Others eyed by the basketball federation includes Trevor Kaitu'u and Lisa Wini, both under sports scholarships at the University of the South Pacific. "These two would definitely add depth and experience to the team" Mr Kiloko said. "There are other players in New Zealand that are hopeful of joining the team"

The national basketball squad has been hard at training for the past few weeks under the watchful eye of a technical officer from Australia. "We are serious about the Apia Games, we missed out last time, so we are gonna put our best"
