Honiara Declared an Emergency Zone

Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare has declared Honiara an emergency zone.

In his nationwide address this afternoon, Prime Minister Sogavare said this order is
made under the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) Regulations 2020.

The Hon. Prime Minister said Honiara is an emergency zone starting from Alligator
Creek to Poha River.

He said other orders with immediate effect under the regulation are the closure of
nightclubs, kava bars, bars and casinos.

Sogavare said he has also made an order for the release of Members Discretionary
Fund. He said this is for the purpose of repatriation of public officers from Honiara to their
village.

Other orders announced by the Prime Minster includes declaration of designated places
as quarantine stations as well as prohibition of Non-citizens entering Solomon Islands.

Pleasure vessels are also banned from entering Solomon Islands.
