Mr. Chan formally released a total of SBD$10 million during a meeting with Hon. Dr. Derek Sikua last month.
Ambassador Chan, in a meeting, said he was pleased to note that the government entails continuation and enhancement of livelihood of the 85 percent of rural inhabitants.
He informed the Prime Minister that the funding is vital for the cause of rural development.
Mr. Chan added that as a staunch ally, the assistance from ROC (Taiwan) to the SIG would be continuous and supportive.
Prime Minister Sikua, in response, expressed sincere appreciation to the help from Ambassador Chan and the Taiwanese Government for its continuous efforts in assistance to the SIG.
Hon. Sikua reassured Ambassador Chan of his Government's support and commitment to fight Taiwan's interests in the international area, and reaffirmed that the ties between SIG and Taiwan would be further strengthened.

The Ambassador of Taiwan in Solomon Islands, H.E. George Chan, handed over to the new government the final payment of 2007 Constituency and Rural Development Fund.
