Workers building the new rugby stadium at Town Ground will go on strike.

Solomon Times was informed that strike notice has been approved and workers will take action on 9th February.

"The 14 days strike follows what workers claim to be breach of agreement with the China United (SI) Cooperation Limited," the Solomon Islands National Union of Workers General Secretary, Tony Kagovai, confirmed.

Workers claimed that the standard of personal health of workers fell below the requirement under the safety Work Act 1981.

Mr. Kagovai adds that another reason was that the China United Management deliberately delayed negotiating terms and services of the workers.

Workers claimed "mistreatment of elected workers representatives" that was in breach of the signed recognition of their agreement.

Mr. Kagovai said that about 150 workers are employed by the China United [SI] Cooperation Limited.
