Solomon Islander, Jenlyn Wini, has scored a mark in weightlifting history for women in Solomon Islands.

She has recently become the first Solomon Island woman to win gold in the Oceania Weightlifting Championship held recently in Brisbane, Australia.

The 58kg champion weightlifter won with a clean and jerk of 103kg - that's about double her body weight.

Her coach Oceania Weightlifting Federation Coach, Paul Coffa, says there's been no time off for Wini who is now preparing for her next competition in Wallace and Futuna before continuing to train for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next year.
