The Western Province President of the Solomon Islands National Teachers Association has expressed disappointment over the nonpayment of Teachers Traveling allowances.

Mr Ralph Suta says this has been a problem faced by teachers each year when it approaches the holiday season. He has called on the respective education authorities to prepare to meet such requirements.

While speaking to Radio Happy Lagoon, he says that it is the legal obligation of controlling authorities who claim to be employers yet it is indeed disappointing given that Christmas is over and teachers are still waiting for their traveling allowances.

He says that teachers unlike public servants will always go for a Christmas break; therefore education authorities must submit a budget for teachers travel passages in good time.

He says that such attitudes is disrespectful and only reflects ignorance, inefficiency and incapability of education authorities responsible.
