The Western and Choiseul province elections concluded yesterday at 5pm, with counting expected to start this morning.

The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission thanked voters in the two province for the manner in which they conducted themselves, and for their patience while queuing to cast their ballot.

“Your choices will translate into memberships to our two provincial assemblies who are elected accordingly by our electoral legal framework, this shows commitments as responsible citizens to participate in our democratic process of elections.

“Our candidates for these elections, you are all our winners for having the zeal and will to lead our provinces. Thank you to all candidates and supporters for allowing the smooth process of voting to eventuate.”

Results should start coming in around lunch time today.
