The heavy rain warning will persist for most of Solomon Islands.

MET service has issued a strong wind and heavy rain warning linked to a low trough over much of Solomon Islands. The torrential downpour is also linked to a tropical low located near the coral sea.

Recent satellite images show heavy cloud cover over Honiara, and much of Guadalcanal. Honiara and Guadalcanal are vulnerable to flash flooding so people are advised to take precaution and watch water levels before attempting to cross.

Those homes located near rivers and streams are also advised to take precautionary measures and to prepare for any emergency situation.

The MET service also warns that such localised heavy rain could also lead to landslides, and advise that those living near hill slopes to also take precaution and prepare for any emergency.
