The Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau has enlisted Australian public relations firm, Five Star PR, to run the Bureau's public relations campaign in Australia.

SIVB general manager, Michael Tokuru, says the campaign is aimed at improving awareness amongst Australians of Solomon Islands' potential as a tourism destination.

"We have embarked on a PR campaign with Five Star PR to show the true beauty of the Solomon Islands through the media in Australia," said Mr. Tokuru.

A team from Five Star PR, consisting of the company's managing director, Nicole Lenoir-Jordan, and a Melbourne freelance journalist, visited Honiara and Gizo in September for a familiarization trip.

"I have just returned from a magical group of un-spoilt islands. A place where you can snorkel above giant clam shells as big as sofas, as well as wrecks from World War II discover shells twice the size of your hand...where else in the world would you find this?" said Lenoir-Jordan.

The Australian said her fellow country men would find themselves right at home in the Solomons.

"There are so many Australians who own the resorts and tourism infrastructure that you can feel quite at home. Even the local airline has Australian and New Zealand pilots."

She said the Solomon Islands reminded her of an un-spoilt Tahiti.
