Figures released by the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office (SINSO) for Q1 reveal exciting growth in tourism, with the islands welcoming 4,903 visitors—a remarkable 24 percent increase from 3,940 during the same period in 2023.

Australian visitors continue to show their love for the Solomon Islands, with arrivals climbing by 4 percent from 1,426 to 1,484.

New Zealanders are also discovering the beauty of our islands, with their numbers soaring by 39 percent, from 236 to 329. Fijian visitors are on the rise too, increasing by 11 percent from 399 to 358.

The most impressive growth came from Papua New Guinea, where visitor numbers skyrocketed by over 84 percent, from 261 to 478.

However, there was a slight dip in visitors from the US, with arrivals dropping by 5 percent, from 351 to 330.

While the Q1 2024 figures haven't yet reached the record-breaking 6,042 visitors of Q1 2019, the future looks bright. Acting CEO of Tourism Solomons, Dagnal Dereveke, highlighted the impact of our dedicated marketing efforts alongside Solomon Airlines.

"Our 2024 marketing strategy is all about reconnecting with our key source markets and sharing the unique beauty and culture of the Solomon Islands," said Mr. Dereveke. "These numbers show that our efforts are paying off, and we’re excited to welcome even more visitors to experience the magic of our islands."
