A special weather advice was issued this morning by the Solomon Islands Meteorological services (METS) for Temotu and Rennell Bellona provinces.

A tropical low with a central pressure of 998 Hectopascals was located East – Southeast of Anuta Islands in Temotu.

The tropical low is moving west at 05 knots towards the southern waters of Anuta and Tikopia.

A second tropical low is also developing in the southern waters of Rennell Bellona province and is expected to intensify over the next 24 hours.

METS advise people in those areas that sea will be very rough with moderate to heavy swells. There is also potential for coastal flooding, particularly for southern parts of Temotu.

They urge sea travelers to consider their own personal safety and that of their passengers as heavy rain will reduce visibility and heavy swells will make it dangerous to attempt any sea voyage, even for the most seasoned skipper.
