Training tracks and a football field built for the Pacific Games 2023 is taking shape.

The construction is nearing completion with the recent installation of running tracks, and with only minor patchwork remaining for the soccer field the facility will soon see athletes and footballers alike honing their skills in preparation for the Pacific Games 2023.

A statement from the 2023 Pacific Games Stadium Project team says that the concerted efforts both by contractor CCECC and project management enterprise CSADI, will ensure that the 2023 Pacific Games Stadium Project facility will soon be handed over to the government and people of Solomon Islands.

Funded by China the newly built facility is located in KG school, and will be one of the first facilities to be completed in preparation for the 2023 Pacific Games.

The statement says that the new facility meets all international criteria for sports’ stadiums and will be an important symbol for sports development in the country.

The Pacific Games 2023 will be held in Honiara, between 19 November to 2 December 2023. This will be the first time the Solomon Islands would host the Games. The event was originally scheduled for 16–29 July 2023.

The Government has stated recently that it is confident that it can deliver the 2023 Pacific Games on time, despite the challenges that have came due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
