The Solomon Islands touch rugby team is hard at training for the South Pacific Games.
Senior player Paul Berry says that the squad is going through the same phase like all other sporting groups. The only problem is having access to a proper field."We are short of technical support and resources that should help to facilitate the requirements of a touch team" Berry said. "So we rely much on individual attendance to our rugby clubs training session" Berry said that the biggest challenge is passing the NOCSI fitness tests that have been going on for the past weeks.
"Starting on Monday we will use the KGVI pitch with the Matangiki rugby club and others for the remaining months leading up to the South Pacific Games. Hopefully we will get more time together to work on drills, conditioning and so on", said Paul Berry.
All the players have been involved in touch rugby for awhile and most of the new players came voluntarily hoping to make the final cut.
