The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM) this week, launched its new Corporate Plan for 2022-2024.

UNDP remains a long-standing partner of the MECDM for many years and within the framework of the Integrated Disaster Risk Management project, the team provides technical and capacity-building support to the Ministry on the implementation of the Corporate Plan.

The Plan sets out the strategy not only for the MECDM, but also serves as a guide for the Community Based Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), development partners, and Civil Society Organization’s support to the Ministry for the next 2 years.

UNDP would also like to acknowledge the partnership of the Governments of Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Embassy of Japan in Solomon Islands, the UK in Solomon Islands, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and other partners who help us implement several priority areas outlined in the Corporate Plan.

The launch of the Corporate Plan 2022-2024 is part of the Integrated Disaster Risk Management project support which is being implemented with financial support from the Australian High Commission, Solomon Islands.

The IDRM team worked with MECDM to strengthen the interconnections between Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental protection, and Early warnings.
